What is Battalion 1944?

Battalion 1944 is a first-person multiplayer shooter title set in the backdrop of World War 2. Similar to games like Call of Duy and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as teams of five players compete in different game modes across different maps.

However, it is separated from the pack because of its built-in FACEIT comeptitive system that games like CS:GO and PUBG only use as a third-party platform.

What are Battalion 1944’s game modes?

The game modes available in the title are Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Domination. However, there is a fourth game mode – Wartide – that is only available once players hit level 10.

Wartide is essentially Search and Destroy and takes a CS:GO-like economy system and implements in its own Battalion way. The objective is still the same, defend or attack a bombsite depending on which side you’re playing as

How does the Wartide economy system work?

As noted, the Wartide mode is like CS:GO in the fact that it has an econmy. However, instead of thousands of dollars, players work with coins.

Each player starts out with five coins which can be used to purchase equipment. A team will claim three coins for a winning round and there is a loss bonus. That starts at two coins before building to three and four – if you’re unable to win a round.

It will stay at four coins until you claim a successful round. There are, of course, bonuses for a kill, bomb plant, and defuse. These all stand one coin.

One difference to CS:GO, however, is that players can donate coins directly to teammates so there is no buying a weapon and then handing it over.

As an added incentive, because the game has cracked the quarter of a million players mark, anyone who jumps into a game before June 10 will receive five free Aces High War Chests to claim some free cosmetics such as weapon skins.

A console release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 was promised when the game was only a Kickstarter campaign, however, that has yet to happen. Bulkhead has maintained that they are taking the game to console at some point.

Who plays Battalion 1944?

The game has quickly taken the fancy of Twitch streamers like Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek, Dr Disrespect, and Fortnite Battle Royale pro Ali ‘Myth’ Kabbani as they broadcast the game to the loyal viewers.

As expected, shroud has quickly risen up the ranks with his incredible gameplay – taking his one-of-a-kind first-person shooter skills and picking up where he left off from Battalion’s early access.

Whether the game remains trendy with big Twitch streamers remains to be seen, but there are key aspects of the game already in place that could see it go from strength-to-strength for some time yet.
