Baldur’s Gate 3 players are celebrating one easy-to-miss companion who has some truly incredible lines.

Baldur’s Gate 3 features a variety of companions to recruit. But beyond fan-favorite characters like Astarion, Shadowheart and Karlach, there are some who are pretty easy to miss.

Among them is Minsc, a returning character from the first two Baldur’s Gate games. The ranger and his trusty hamster companion Boo are back, but since they cannot be encountered and recruited until Act 3 and require another easy-to-miss companion in Jaheira, many players probably haven’t added him to their parties.

Now, Reddit users are discussing why that’s such as shame, as Minsc arguably has some of the best lines of dialogue in all of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players love Minsc’s hilarious lines

The conversation was started by Reddit user Sliiimball, who shared one of their favorite Minsc quotes on the Baldurs Gate 3 subreddit.

In all three Baldur’s Gate games, Minsc is, to put it lightly, not the brightest bulb. He goes everywhere with Boo, who he genuinely believes he can talk to, and has a very black-and-white view of good and evil.

It also helps that he’s voiced by Critical Role’s Matt Mercer, who delivers lines like “No, it’s a hamster” and “Life is simple, and so is Minsc” with hilarious earnestness.

But while Minsc may come off as “simple,” other commenters have praised his “heartachingly profound” serious moments. This includes one where Minsc doesn’t understand why Jaheira is mad at him because, as the user paraphrases, “What good am I good for if not for dying to protect you?”

While many never get to experience the brilliance that is Minsc, this conversation shows why it’s worth seeking him out. As one player admits, “Couldn’t stand him on my first playthrough, paid more attention to him on my second and realized it was – in fact – me, who was the ass.”
