A Baldur’s Gate 3 player may have put their marriage in danger after deciding to kiss Karlach, much to their wife’s disliking.

Romancing a character in Baldur’s Gate 3 is designed to give you another way to role-play your character of choice.

The community loves to use these mechanics to play out a story different from the one they live in their own lives.

However, one player’s wife isn’t so sure of this after witnessing them kissing Karlach in their playthrough.

The story was told on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit in a post titled: “I kissed Karlach and my wife didn’t like it.”

The poster and their wife are both playing through the game separately, and this is the first time their wife has really experienced an RPG.

Because of this new experience, their wife was not pleased when they shared that they had kissed Karlach to romance her.

“… I told her that I started a romance with Karlach and she didn’t like it, she thought it was strange and disapproved.”

The response by the community has been a little split, with some finding the story funny and others worrying about what it means for their relationship.

“This isn’t a game problem. This is a problem you have in the relationship with your wife.”

Now, not everyone shares this big of a reaction to the story, as some Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim they’ve been in this position before.

“My theory is that I was ridiculously insecure at the time and had very low self-esteem. Maybe she feels jealous because she is insecure in herself.”

Others are just taking the time to find the humor in the story, as many players have had some experience with significant others and romancing characters in the game.

“My girlfriend just teases me endlessly for being so smitten with Astarion…”

The story is clearly a lighthearted one, not meant to show any marital issues at its heart, but it does give Baldur’s Gate 3 fans another example of how the game affects their lives in humorous ways.
