When does Apex Legends Season 2 start? Release date, trailers, Battle Pass and more

The release of the second season for Apex Legends is just around the corner, with the major update set to bring a host of changes to the game, including updates to the map, new characters and more.

With Season 1 now in the rear view mirror, many fans are excited at the prospect of a brand new season and some new cosmetic items, after fans spent much of the game’s original season complaining about what many deemed to be drab and unexciting skins.

With an invasion of massive creatures and major changes to the map teased, when can fans of the popular battle royale title get their hands on Season 2? Here’s everything we know.

When did Apex Legends Season 1 officially end?

The game’s first season officially came to a halt on Tuesday, June 18, when the first Battle Pass expired, signalling the conclusion of the event.

PlayStation’s events calendar officially listed the final day of Season 1 as June 4, however with the Battle Pass continuing for a few more weeks, it’s widely considered that June 18 was the final day of Season 1, leaving a break between the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2.

When does Apex Legends Season 2 officially start?

Fans will be happy to hear that Apex Legends Season 2 officially kicks off on Tuesday, July 2, slightly later than the June date that had been mentioned in the game’s year one roadmap.

During the EA Play just before E3 2019, Respawn Entertainment officially confirmed the July 2 start date, with the update expected to launch at around 1PM EST.

Two trailers drop for Apex Legends Season 2

With hype for the new season building, Respawn dropped two new trailers on June 27 to give fans a sneak peek at what they can expect when the new season arrives.

The first is a cinematic trailer, which adds to the lore of the popular battle royale title. As some of the game’s most recognizable characters such as Octane and Gibraltar battle for supremacy, a mysterious figure can be seen setting off an EMP, which destroys the Repulsers which keep the Leviathans and Flyers at bay.

The second is a brand-new gameplay trailer, which gives fans a look at the changes that have been made to Kings Canyon, and what combat will look like with the new creatures and items on the map, alongside a closer look at new character Wattson.

What is coming in Apex Legends Season 2?

Thanks to the trailers, we now know for certain that the leviathans that have been moving closer to Kings Canyon will indeed invade the arena, and bring carnage to the map.

The trailer shows destroyed buildings and bridges, flooded locations and a number of new areas that have become overgrown with grass and weeds in the fallout of the EMP.

Players will also get their hands on Wattson, a new Legend who utilizes electricity as her main ability, and is sure to be a shocking addition to the game.

Will there be a new Apex Legends Battle Pass?

Yes, Apex Legends will have a brand new Battle Pass for Season 2, with a number of weapons and Legends receiving new skins.

While many were disappointed with the Season 1 Battle Pass, the developers confirmed that the new version will include daily and weekly challenges, a reduced time to reach level 100, plus three new Legendary skins that fans can rock while they do battle.

How do I get the Apex Legends Season 2 Battle Pass?

The Apex Legends Season 2 Battle Pass will be available to purchase inside the game on July 2, with the price expected to remain at the 950 Apex Coins it cost for the first version.

If you managed to rank your Season 1 Battle Pass all the way up to level 100, and held on to all the Apex Coins you received as rewards, you should have enough to purchase the Season 2 pass without spending any cash.
