Punishment details for Apex Legends ranked mode quitters revealed

Respawn

Apex Legends developers Respawn Entertainment have revealed the punishments for players who decide to call it quits early during the new ranked league games.

Fans of the battle royale game are gearing up for the release of Season two, Battle Charge, where a whole host of new content is set to be on offer – including a new legend, battle pass updates, and the long-awaited ranked mode.

However, fans who think they’re in for an easy ride with climbing the new ranks might be in for a shock. Players will use rank points to ‘buy’ into games – losing them with a loss and, obviously, gaining more with a win. Yet, anyone who quits out on a game will have to worry about just losing points.

Respawn EntertainmentIt won’t be easy for players to succeed in Apex Legends season two if they keep quitting.

In their announcement post for season two, the developers offered more insight to the penalties players will suffer. As the developers consider ranked to be a high-stakes, high-reward environment, they want higher level of commitment from players.

They added: “Players who abandon their teammates will be hit with a matchmaking penalty in both regular and Ranked matches. Penalties will result in a player being barred from joining a match for escalating amounts of time-based on how often they have abandoned in Ranked.”

EAPlayers will be able to climb the ranks of Apex Legends – provided they don’t quit out easily.

Players will be seen as abandoning games if they leave before the match is over for them – including in character select, leaving while alive, or leaving when you are dead but can still be respawned by teammates

The developers did not state, however, just how severe these penalties will be but considering they work on an escalation basis, serial quitters will be punished much harsher than someone who rages on their first attempt.

It will be interesting to see who is the first player to be handed one of these temporary time suspension and just how long they will last for.
