Apex Legends was an instant hit when it released out of nowhere on February 4, 2019 – thanks in part because it’s free to play and its popularity of Twitch, plus the game is just fun to play.
Though it couldn’t sustain it’s initial Twitch numbers Apex is still a go-to on the platform, and the battle royale seems to have had no trouble attracting regular players as well.

EA also announced they had made Apex Legends a “core franchise” and that they were adding additional developers to the team.
Whether additional developers mean more content like maps, cosmetics, additional modes, gameplay updates, or something else entirely remains to be seen.
Video game industry analyst Daniel Ahmad also noted that EA still had plans for Apex on mobile, additional platforms, esports support and officially releasing the game in China.
