An Apex Legends player has come up with a brilliant and simple new way to make quips more useful in-game, and it could change the way you play.
Quips have been in Apex Legends since the game’s initial release, with both introduction and kill quips available to choose from. They are short, simple phrases, unique to each Legend, and at first, could only be used at the start of a game or when you got a kill, as the names suggest.
However, at the start of Season 3, Respawn Entertainment introduced a ‘Quip Wheel’ to the battle royale titan, allowing players to use a quip whenever they want, similar to the use of emotes in rival game Fortnite. But this player thinks they can be improved upon quite a lot.

Posting his concept to Reddit, ‘182ways’ thinks there’s a whole section of quips that could be added to the game to improve communication, especially for those who don’t use a microphone to talk with their squad.
182ways thinks that the quip wheel should expand to include “tactical quips” to give teammates more of an idea of what is going on. Some of the examples include “follow me”, “hold your fire” or “stop moving.”
He describes these tactical quips as “general, non-targeted commands that may be helpful to players who don’t use a mic. Players may opt to add any of them to their quip wheel to improve communication with their squadmates.”

This seems like a really clever way to help players on all teams, especially if there’s a teammate without a microphone.
It’s also noted that while nearby enemies can hear regular quips, tactical quips would be for your team’s ears only, meaning you wouldn’t have to worry about staying concealed or quiet in tense moments.
Quips have often seemed underutilized in Apex Legends, and it’s clear that there has been something stopping them from being an integral part of the game. This could be the best way to utilize them correctly.
