It’s fascinating to see how various buffs and nerfs have affected the game’s pick rates.

Rampart is still struggling and down to 21st (1.5%) and Newcastle remains bottom in 23rd (1.1%). Crypto, however, has moved out of the bottom three in Season 16, up to 20th.

Most played Apex Legends characters

As previously stated, a higher pick rate doesn’t always equal a more effective Legend, but the current build of the game has seen the same few characters occupy the top spots for a while now.

Here are the most-played Legends in Apex Legends Season 16.

Bloodhound – 7%

Bloodhound’s scans make them the best recon Legend in Apex.

While Seer may have taken the title of ‘Best Recon Legend’ early on in Season 10, that time was short-lived. Bloodhound is an irreplaceable Legend thanks to their Eye of the Allfather tactical ability, which offers unparalleled tracking and information for any team. This is a huge reason why Bloodhound boasts a healthy 7% pick rate in Apex Season 16.

Not only that but ‘Beast of the Hunt’ is an excellent traversal technique, especially if you need to escape the storm.

Bangalore – 7.6%

Bangalore, one of the eight original Legends in Apex, has moved back into the top 5 in Season 16. This is possibly partly thanks to her new-found popularity in pro matches.

Bang has always had a useful kit, but never felt ‘overpowered’. But, with how strong aim assist is in Apex, players are opting for Bangalore thanks to her smoke. The smoke will counter aim assist, putting controller players at a disadvantage.

With a 7.6% pick rate, Bangalore knocked both Horizon and Valkyrie down the pecking order in Season 16, as both of these Legends were hit with nerfs.

Octane – 10.9%

Octane is a consistently high-picked Legend in Apex, despite the nerfs he’s received since the game’s release. His easy-to-use and highly effective abilities make for great solo play, but also mean that he fits right in with team-based matches.

He boasts a whopping 10.9% pick rate and is currently at the number three spot.

Pathfinder – 11.3%

Pathfinder’s grapple can get you out of sticky situations in no time

Despite being nowhere as effective as he was back in his prime, Pathfinder still manages to be the top mobility-based Legend in Apex Legends with an 11.3% pick rate. Ever since Season 5, Respawn has continued to adjust Pathfinder’s abilities, while also giving other recons (Bloodhound, Seer, Crypto & Valkyrie) his original ability to scan for upcoming ring locations.

In Season 16, his speed on ziplines has been doubled, and he can place his ultimate twice as far, giving him another boost to his pick rate, which is up about 1%.

Wraith – 12%

Wraith has been the most consistent Legend in all of Apex.

Wraith was the face of the game back at launch, and it’s easy to see why. Her abilities have yet to be replaced or challenged, even by Ash, with her portal allowing for smooth and strategic rotations. Alongside her phase, you can take more risks and still retreat with your life intact.

She has had some tinkering done, like the removal of the Low Profile attribute back in Season 9, but she remains as deadly as ever in the current state of the game. No evidence is as clear and obvious to this as her 12% pick rate.

Her buff in Season 16 – making the portal double the distance – has helped her leapfrog over Octane into top spot.
