Apex Legends developers finally responded on Friday to a player base that was mostly outraged by the way microtransactions were used to unlock content in the new Iron Crown event.

After doing some quick math, players soon figured out it would cost upwards of $200 to unlock to all of the items for the event, including the Heirloom.
It didn’t take long for the memes, videos and posts all ripping EA and Respawn for the way event worked to find their way to the top of Reddit either.
Respawn responds
After a long week, Respawn finally put out a statement to players on Friday, August 16, that promised to make changes to the availability of Legendary Iron Crown items and how players can acquire them.
“Starting on 8/20, we’ll be adding and rotating all twelve of the event-exclusive Legendary items into the store over the course of the final week of the event for the regular Legendary skin cost of 1,800 Apex Coins.
You will still be able to purchase Iron Crown Apex Packs for 700 Apex Coins if you choose.
The store schedule for the week will be as follows:”

Respawn also said that they would “provide more ways to obtain items than just buying Apex Packs” for future events.

Whether that means unlocking them through challenges or an updated shop schedule like we see here remains to be seen.
The Iron Crown event may have turned into a bit of a black eye for Apex Legends, but at least developers appear to be listening to the community, and making it so players can get the items they want, without buying a ton of loot boxes.
Why were players so upset?
Apex Legends was hugely popular at launch and has retained a loyal fan base ever since – but the Iron Crown controversy soon seemed to be the only thing Apex people were talking about after it launched, not the new skins.
Some players will definitely still be upset, but at least now one of the biggest issues of players not being able to just get the skin they want, has apparently been addressed.
It will take some time for Respawn to regain the goodwill of the community, but at least the latest update shows that they’re listening to what people are talking about.
