My Hero Academia took a shocking turn when Deku lost One For All, becoming Quirkless once again. Now that the manga’s ended, does he get his Quirk back?
Deku starts his My Hero Academia journey as a Quirkless boy dreaming to be a Pro Hero. His dreams finally have a chance to come true when his idol All Might transfers the all-powerful One For All to him, giving him the opportunity to fulfill his goal.
During the last stretch of the Final War, Deku decides to forcefully transfer One For All to Shigaraki to defeat him from within. After successfully doing so, Deku is left with only the embers of the powerful Quirk, making Shigaraki the new wielder of it.
However, with My Hero Academia ending with Chapter 430, we finally know if Deku’s biggest change has been reversed or not. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Does Deku get One For All back by the end of My Hero Academia?
Deku does not get One For All back by the end of My Hero Academia.
Deku reveals he still has the embers of One For All, like All Might did after transferring the Quirk to him, in Chapter 424. Since then, he’s used the embers at certain moments. For example, in Chapter 428, he uses them to reach Ochako at the top of the hill.
However, the final chapter, which picks up after an eight-year-long time skip, reveals the embers have faded long since. This has left Deku completely Quirkless, like he was at the beginning. With no Quirk to aid him, he also hasn’t been able to become a Pro Hero like he wanted.
But at the end of the chapter, he gets another chance to fulfill his dream. All Might gives him a special armor and support gears, funded by the rest of Class 1-A students, especially Bakugo, to help him in place of his Quirk.

Thanks to those items, Deku finally becomes a Pro Hero, even though he no longer has One For All.
What happened to One For All?
One For All ceases to exist after the vestiges of the previous users and Deku destroys All For One, fulfilling their destiny.
What really happens to One For All is left on an ambiguous note in Chapter 423. However, by the events of the chapter and Yoichi’s explanation, the previous wielders of One For All finally get their salvation by defeating All For One, indicating that they disappear from existence.
In the chapter, the resonance from Deku’s embers of One For All rouse the previous users as well as Shigaraki who has been saved from fizzling out by Nana Shimura, his grandmother. All previous users, along with Shigaraki, attack All For One from within while Deku attacks him with the last bit of his power from the outside.
Thanks to the joint attack, All For One is finally defeated, disintegrating into thin air and freeing Shigaraki from him. What happens to One For All after this isn’t shown, but we get the answer in the manga’s final chapter.
